My 2005 Honours thesis which focuses on the isolation of women and children in the South Australian Outback. By the 1950s children were being taught by governesses, or their mothers, who received fortnightly lesson sets from the Correspondence School in Adelaide. They were also getting daily half hour lessons from the School of the Air in Port Augusta via transceivers.
